This postcard and two articles give an insight into the life of Tom Wakefield. The 1911 census records Tom (51), his wife Mary (51), their family William (24), Arthur (22), Mary (19), Florence (8) living at The Villas, Mansfield Colliery, Mansfield. [this address in 2013 would be given as Eakring Road,]. In 1929 when he retired Tom, Mary and some family members moved to 'Birkland', a house he built on Clipstone Road, Forest Town.
