This post card shows the inside of St David’s Mission Church at Forest Town, and a wonderful Harvest Festival display. This was the first church in Forest Town and built in 1905 on land near the cross roads, next to where St Alban’s Church is today. There is no evidence of this church today.
What is fascinating about this card is that it was not posted locally in Forest Town or Mansfield, it was posted on 17 December 1907 in Fritham, Hampshire
and sent to Miss M Winter in West Wellow, Romsey, Hampshire
With the message
How and why was this postcard taken all that way, what was the connection with these people and Forest Town?
The 1901 & 1911 census does not reveal a Miss M Winter at the address on the post card. Did they all meet at Bar Gate, I wonder !
