This is a photo in the Museums Chad negative collection – taken in 1982 it is marked as ‘Rippons Wall, Old Mill Lane.’ Just where this wall is poses a bit of a mystery.

  • Is this the same site of which a building were used by the Mansfield Shoe Co;? ,and if I remember behind the Shoe Co; building I remember a football pitch if my memory serves me correct .Sadly all long gone now ,as they say progress takes over in more ways for the “Woodouse Folk “.

  • It is the retaining wall for the top block of the 2 storey industrial units, where the ladder is shown is now the car park for these units

  • I think this is the beginnings of the Old Mill Lane industrial estate where B & Q and the Post Office Sorting Office are.

  • I agree with Liz but it’s more likely to be one of the retaining walls for the 2 multi level blocks of industrial units on Farmway.
