60 Years of the Mansfield Chad
The Mansfield Chad celebrated its Diamond Jubilee this week and to mark the occasion they have produced this special video, looking back at how they have gathered the news and produced your number one local newspaper – and now website – over the past six decades.
Chad also published a special 16 page supplement this week, looking back over the past 60 years of news, views and sport. It included an eight-page Retro, featuring a collection of old photographs from the Chad archives.
And to celebrate the anniversary, former employees, readers and members of the public joined us at the Old Town Hall in Mansfield to have a look at our special photographic exhibition.

My late husband. Barry Salmon, started work there from school in 1957.
I recall the advertising page but can’t remember the decade / date when the said page was entitled ‘CHAD MAGIC ADDS’. Just a thought, haven’t looked at the Chad for a long time now but working on it!
What a brilliant record of the past and the present, recorded for the future. So good to see it on the ourmansfieldandarea web site, giving people far and wide an opportunity to learn about the CHAD.
Pauline , I agree….In 1952 whilst serving overseas, my wife (then my girlfriend). posted the Chad to me every week…. Always good to read what was happening back home…
