This photograph has been displayed on many occasions, and yet it has always been a bit of a mystery.
It is taken in front of the old Forest Town Miners Welfare Institute building, but the date and the event are unknown.
For many years women were not allowed in the building, it was a ‘men only’ regime. From the look on all the men’s faces they are determined not to let anyone in, and even if the rule had been relaxed when this photo was taken, it would have taken a very brave miners wife to cross this line!!
However the real mystery remains, when was the photo taken and why?
Two people have been named – on the front row 3rd from the right is Edward Ginnevar and at the end John Wilfred Roland.
