British Legion Parade at Forest Town

These photo’s show the parade of the British Legion’s new Standard going past the old Forest Town Welfare Institute building and into St Alban’s Church in September 1969.

From the photo’s we can see what a splendid building the ‘Institute’ was, and how near to the road it was. Within the next few years the building was demolished and a flat roofed one erected further back from the road, with a car park at the front.
