Spa Ponds Walk

The Spa Pond Walk which was arranged by the newly formed Forest Town Nature Conservation Group (www.foresttown.net) took place on Saturday 4th June 2011. The day was bright and sunny and everyone met in the Whitgates Pub car park and then walked across to Newlands Drive where we immediately turned into a footpath that took us into the beauty and peace of woodland away from the noise of Traffic on the busy Clipstone Road.

Andy Lowe of the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust (www.nottinghamshirewildlife.org) was our guide on this walk and introduced us to the work of the Trust at Spa Ponds, pointing out many interesting features on route. Additionally we were encouraged to listen to the birds and to try and identify their song

  • I have just looked at the updated Spa Ponds web site http://www.foresttown.net/index.php/nature/ftncg-minutes/ then at the 2018/19 AGM and there are some wonderful photographs on there showing how Spa Ponds are today and the amazing volunteer work that is going on. Do take a look, this is a lovely conservation area on our doorstep.
