BELLAMY ROAD PANCAKE RACE

A few photographs of the 1972 Bellamy Road Pancake Race.

The tradition of pancake racing is being carried out with a great deal of enjoyment and skill by the residents of Bellamy Road.

Was the runner, the lady who finally won the race, and who is behind her?

  • Great memories, the house that I grew up in is in the background and some of my friends parents are in these pics 🙂 Happy days!

  • Thanks for that Nicholas, beginning to get my bearings again, it’s a while since I walked that particular spot / area. Will do a full tour of Mansfield on my next visit, in the Spring hopefully. The site has been a great help toward personal memories of my hometown. Fascinating history records and photos at the touch of a button.

  • In answer to Steeve Cee’s question, the large building on the right of the first three photos is the rear of the shopping centre. The lower storey small square windows have since been filled in, but the remnants are still visible and the wooden balcony fence was replaced with steel railings.

  • What is the large building on the right of the first three pictures please, it looks familiar but I just can’t place it. Sorry no idea who the people are, looks like they were having a good time all those years ago. Thanks.
