A QEGGS reunion haiku: Travelled back in time Saw my schoolmates once again Sixties were reborn (feel free to add more - 5, 7 and 5 syllables!)

Was June Marsh in the old days! Wish I could have been at the reunion - I remember some of the names. I left in 1956. My big 7 - 0 coming up this year in June, so I shall give a toast to all the Old Girls I remember. Living in Florida and still working full time. Life is good!

I am trying to contact the Hilary Parsons mentioned in the QEGGS reunion page with regard to her family history. If Hilary contacts the site they can put her in contact with me. Thank you in anticipation - John Bradder

I would dearly like to hear from anyone who remembers a girl called Norah Pemblington who lived in Plidworth. Norah attended the Queen Elizabeth Grammer School from 1949 to 1953. She was very good at art and her work was shown to the Queen during her visit in the early 50's. Any information about Norah would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Shelley

I was so pleased to see this. I went to the school 1973 - 1980 and was Angela Kennewell then. I was so sorry to learn that Miss Batty has died - what an icon she was. I am now a teaching and learning advisor in Malaysia. She always inspired (and scared) me!

I was Diane Turner 1961-1966 and my best friend was Leslie Fuller.I remember Freda Ball, Diane Spencer, Angela Tate, Ursula Ulmanis, Heather Spencer, Yvonne and Pauline from Sutton. Who was that elegant girl that did ballroom dancing? Yes, Miss Batty and her long legged pink knickers scared me too! Miss Long who taught Latin...labour vincit omnia. Our lovely RE teacher. Who was it who taught us Geography? You must remember Miss Mann no wonder we all got A's in History. I also remember a lovely English teacher. What about indoor shoes?

I'd love to hear from anyone who went on the German exchange trip to Mannheim in 1979 and 1981 The trips were a joint venture with Queen Elizabeth Girls and Queen Elizabeth Boys Schools with Hucknall National C of E School. We (Hucknall National C of E School and the two Mansfield schools) all shared several coaches for a two week exchange visit with the Waldschule in Mannheim. When the German students came to stay with us, QEGGs or QEBGs held a party in the school. The few names I remember from the Mansfield students are red-headed Liz (Liz would have been 16 around 1981) and Donna Anstee from (QE Girls) and Dominic Helliwell (from QE Boys). I'm still in contact with my German exchange partner and would love to hear from others.

Whilst trawling through the internet I came across the name Diane Turner.

I remember you from the youth club days. Also Lesley Fuller who I remember fondly. Like you I hope she is well

I was only at QEGGS for 1 year, 1963, before Mum "hauled" us off to Australia but I still sing "Labor, vincit, omnia" sometimes :-) The P.E. teacher scared me! Oh and our French teacher, Madame ????? Still have a pretty good accent, though.

I was at QEGGS from 1964 to 1968. I married in 1972 and for the next 22 years travelled with then husband during his successful Army career (behind every good man).  I would love to hear from anyone who was there at the same time and also to see any pictures taken during that period.  I stood on stage many times and said the words "form 2? would like to inform the school that they will be holding a cake stall in the covered way at blah blah". I used to bring in delicious small rolls (cobs) that my mum had made.  They had all been sold within 15 minutes after the end of assembly. Anyway love to hear from anybody.

I left QEGS in 1961 but my husband, Graham Parkin (QEGS Boys) wants to be remembered to Alison Jarvey who is in the reunion photo. My memories of school are not too good but his are.

I was at QUEGGS from 1962-69. I would love to hear from anyone who was in my year; esp the whereabouts of Rachel Morton, Marion Rippon (of Rippon Homes), Christine Cooper, etc... Just found a photo of our brilliant hockey team! Thanks. Rosie Jackson (formerly Rosemary Price)

[Rosemary, why don't you add a page with the photo of the hockey team to this web site? Editors]
