Derrick Tibby was in and out of Harlow Wood Orthopaedic Hospital as a patient for a number of years including 1946. The photos show his mum visiting him.

At that time a Visitors card was needed which gives many do's and don'ts, i.e., who was allowed to visit and when.

The bus fare concession is interesting, the hospital was not an easy place to get to in those years and sometimes people had to walk there from Mansfield. Derricks wife recalls being told that once that when the buses had stopped running because of snow, his parents walked there and arrived with just 10 minutes left of visiting time and no consideration was given they were allowed just the 10 minutes!
