…the Boxing Club was attached to the side of the old Welfare, and many a Sunday morning saw the men watching the training before the club opened at 12 o’clock. I have named those I can remember, can you please help with the rest.

My name is Cec Mc Keown and I trained at Mansfield Colliery Boxing Club 1959 -1964. I won Notts and Derby Middleweight Championship in 1960, my trainer was Charlie Middleton, I sparred with Mick Riley and Bill Doughty and my brothers Bill and Sam. Great memories

My comments are not correct. I meant I won the middleweight title, Mick, Bill, Sam, Bill where my

I trained at the club 1959-1960 and 1962-1964. Charlie Middleton was my trainer, his brother Frank and son Joey my brothers Bill and Sam sparing partners. Bill Doughty and Mick Reilly won the 1960 Notts and Derby middleweight title then I migrated to Australia came back 1962-1964, returned to Australia where I remain still.
The man on the bottom row, left hand side is not T. Mills as stated, but
Roy Crofts. He used to box there from age of 16 to 21 and then continued to train others at the Welfare. Would be around 1946/47 when he used to box there. His son Paul used to go with him to watch in the early 1960’so
